I specialise in wildlife art (waterclour on board, pen-and-ink, pencil and graphite drawing), with forays into classic cars, landscapes and the odd abstract. Have been known to do pet and even human portraits... commissions taken!
I'm a non-professional artist hoping to break into the professional (or should that be semi-professional?) arts world. I've been told I'm good at what I do, but I feel I'm still learning. I'd certainly welcome comments, criticism (so long as it's constructive) and guidance.
I love wildlife... being interested in birds, mammals, insects and molluscs from a very early age. Also an avid wildlife photographer and conservationist. I also have an interest in archaeology. Living in the Western Isles - to live the life of being an artist / photographer (me), making woolly knits (my wife), exploring archaeology (the both of us), drinking single malt whisky (the both of us... but mainly me) and doing anything crafty.
All proceeds from the European Otter painting went to the Tobermory Otter Fund. The fund has been set up "... to buy and install an otter sculpture on the edge of the Bay. An attraction for visitors, the sculpture will also incorporate a collection box in the plinth, funds from which will support otter conservation work on Mull and Skye for years to come".
